This explains what BASEMILE collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. The controller is BASEMILE. Contact us at hello@basemile.co.uk, where full business details are available on request.

What we collect

  • Your answers. Race date and name, goal, running experience, weekly mileage, recent race time, training days, long run day and age range.
  • Your contact details. First name and email address.
  • Where you came from. Campaign parameters in the link you arrived on, and the referring site.
  • How you moved through the site. Which questions you answered and where you stopped.

We do not ask for your weight, your health conditions or anything else that counts as special category data, and you should not send it to us.

Why, and on what basis

  • To build and deliver your plan. Because it is necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To take payment and keep records. Contract, and our legal obligations.
  • To understand which adverts work. Your consent, given through the cookie banner. Decline and no analytics trackers are set.
  • To send you running tips and offers. Only if you ticked that box. You can unsubscribe from any email.

Who else sees it

  • Stripe. Processes your payment.
  • Meta. If you accept analytics cookies, the Meta pixel tells Meta that a visit, a quiz or a purchase happened, so adverts can be measured. This is not set unless you accept.
  • Vercel. Runs the site and serves your plan.
  • Neon. Stores your answers and your plan, on servers in the United States.
  • Resend. Sends our emails, from servers in Ireland.

Each of them processes your data on our instructions and nothing else. We do not sell your data.

Where it goes

Because of the providers above, your data is processed outside the United Kingdom, in the European Union and the United States. We only use providers that publish a data processing agreement covering those transfers.

How long we keep it

Your plan and the answers behind it are kept while your plan link is live, so you can come back to it. Records relating to a purchase are kept for six years, which is what tax law requires. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we will deal with it. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use a small amount of browser storage to keep your quiz answers while you are answering, and to remember your cookie choice. Those are necessary for the site to work. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them.
